From Overachiever to Moped Maestra: The Adventure of Learning to Trust the Process
Living up to an image that you have of yourself or that other people have of you is inauthentic living. ...or so says Eckhart Tolle in his book , A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose . It's been something I've been thinking a lot about lately. I’ve started realizing that many of the expectations I carry—both the ones I set for myself and the ones shaped by culture or others’ perceptions—don’t quite fit me. 1. A little about me In high school I was your typical over achiever. Maybe because I was a middle child. Who knows. I did all the activities and as many sports as I could fit. I enjoyed them. I led student groups, started clubs, and aced my classes. Then by some miracle -- as my interview would tell me -- I got into the University of Pennsylvania. I was moving from a small town in Wyoming to Philadelphia. I'll tell you what, they couldn't be more different. It was a delightful culture shock, one my identity needed.
